Guru Rinpoche, also known as Padmasambhava, is one of the most important and revered figures in Tibetan Buddhism. Often called the "Second Buddha," he is credited with bringing Vajrayana Buddhism to Tibet in the 8th century. According to legend, he was born miraculously from a lotus flower and possessed profound spiritual powers from an early age. Invited by the Tibetan king Trisong Detsen, Guru Rinpoche subdued negative spirits and obstacles that were preventing the establishment of Buddhism in Tibet. Through his wisdom and compassion, he transformed these forces into protectors of the Dharma. He established the first Buddhist monastery in Tibet at Samye and transmitted many esoteric teachings to his disciples, some of which were hidden as *termas* (treasures) to be discovered in future generations. Guru Rinpoche is often depicted in a majestic form, wearing royal robes and a lotus hat, holding a vajra in one hand and a skull cup in the other, symbolizing his mastery over wisdom, compassion, and spiritual power. Devotees chant his mantra, **"Om Ah Hum Vajra Guru Padma Siddhi Hum,"** to receive blessings, protection, and spiritual realization.
